My
Story
Books, newspaper
articles, and even Web sites like this one are chock full of information
describing PTSD. But for as much research is done, experts consulted,
and statistics provided, there is nothing that can reach out like the
words of someone who has gone through what you have. The words “I
understand” are so much more profound and heartfelt when spoken
from a fellow veteran who has PTSD.
Encouraging words
toward seeking treatment, staying in treatment, and the promise of a
life that isn’t controlled by PTSD are incomparable coming from
someone who is successfully coping with PTSD. Hearing stories of success
provides a light of hope at the end of a tunnel that seems dark and
endless, until someone who has already gone through that tunnel shines
that light from the other side in your direction.
The Ghost Rider
Foundation encourages those people who have led successful lives after
developing PTSD to share their stories so they can serve as an inspiration
to those looking for a way to cope with their PTSD. Please send us your
stories, including both the highs and the lows, and what methods you
used to cope with PTSD, including therapies, medications, or other routes
of treatment.
Please e-mail us
your stories by submitting them to "mystory@ghostriderfoundation.org".
They will be looked over before being posted on the Web site. The GRF
appreciates everyone who is willing to share their experiences, because
your success story can inspire and impact someone in a way that no doctor,
family member, or Web site can match.
